I worked with Mike on a refinance on an investment property in California and a subsequent VA principle home purchase in Maryland from October 2017 through the end of March 2018. I found NBKC through the Costco Mortgage program, and was lucky that Mike was the one to reach out to me. Although other banks and mortgage reps in the Costco network solicited me for their business, Mike's pitch was that all the banks' rates will be the same or similar, but the main difference he offers is service — and on that (and everything else), he not only delivered but exceeded all of my expectations. For example, the refinancing of the California property went smoothly even with my wife's former self employment income from the past few years, and Mike was in constant communication with me regarding the status of the refi and what documents were needed to update the file. When it came time to purchase, Mike was again in constant communication by email and phone (sometimes on the weekend too) and used his years of experience to work with our real estate agent to craft offers that would appeal to sellers in our highly competitive market, which ultimately worked to our advantage. NBKC's closing costs were always as stated in the disclosure documents or ended up lower than expected, and again, Mike's lending knowledge and customer service exceeded all expectations. Additionally, the great thing about working with Mike is that working with him, you get to know him through the process, and you feel that you've known him and worked with him for a long time, even if it's the first time you've worked with him — somewhat like working with a small-town local lending agent from your hometown who really cares about your situation. Ultimately, I can't recommend Mike and NBKC highly enough, and will recommend him and NBKC to all my friends and family for all their mortgage lending needs.
